Testosterone - what benefits other than libido have you noticed

Just started Testogel this week after 18 months of hrt tweaks and changes. Now on Evorel 100, utrogestan 100 continuously and topical estriol as well.

Can anyone share their experiences besides libido from a similar combination?

Hrt has helped a lot with some symptoms - sleep issues (were horrendous), overheating & flushes etc over the past 18 months but I am still hoping to resolve my remaining issues too.

Testogel has been prescribed for libido but I also have significant joint/muscle/tendon issues, lack of energy, disturbed sleep especially after alcohol, lack of motivation, some brain fog.

Is there any hope this new regime will help?

It seems also to depend on what different health trusts policies are re off-license prescribing of Testosterone for women - you can Google and find PDF's online for some health areas. I think GP's are tied by their CCG (?) Postcode lottery too.

My GP offered to test my testosterone levels at my HRT review when I mentioned my still absent libido. She then phoned with the results which were low and asked if I'd like to try Testosterone. Blood test to be done after 3 months. She said she thinks it's poor that it's not licensed for women on the NHS.

Not sure if I've noticed any effects yet but I also had very low B12 and iron so started everything together. I am feeling less exhausted and more motivated generally. Now worrying about the fact I haven't been storing Testosterone in a fridge as hadn't realised I might need to until reading this thread! (Due to open a new sachet on Friday so will refrigerate). Kind person at GP practice is also trying to find out for me.

I'm just on my second sachet and haven't refrigerated it either.

Today was day 9 - I was told 3 months should be long enough to see if it's beneficial. I've also switched to utrogestan rather than combined patches.

It's early days but the utrogestan is seemingly helping with sleep - I'm hoping testosterone has benefits over and above libido as I've really struggled with joint pain, energy, strength and stamina. All of which there is at least anecdotal support that it may help.

My consultant was very clear she could only prescribe for libido - almost to the point of guiding my request.

My GP was fantastic with the HRT but I have to get the testogel privately. I may try harder to push my case with her but even with the private prescription cost added in it’s still only about £5 a week so it’s not worth the battle and I feel like I’m in good hands with the private gynae (regular bloods etc). Also feel like I’m offsetting the cost of the medication with the NHS HRT certificate…

It might be more of a postcode issue. Where I live, testosterone is not available for women for HRT purposes on the NHS.

The GP simply cannot prescribe it other than on a private basis.
