What do you take for peri menopause symptoms?

I'm awaiting a specialist consultation but wow, the symptoms are getting to me - brain fog, irritability and poor memory are the worst for me. I ordered some menopause vitamins on Amazon but it says in the packet not yo take with this family history.

I take HRT. But I did need genetic screening before they would prescribe it. It took 2 years before I could start, but worth it.

Ultimately, HRT - although not until I was already through the menopause and the worst of the symptoms had begun to ease. Before that, I took oil of evening primrose (no discernible effect) and black cohosh (ditto). Sadly for me, cutting down on sugar and alcohol and totally reevaluating what I wore had more noticeable effects.

Good luck. Hope you get your consultation soon.

For brain fog I take magnesium L-threonate.
I also gave up drinking as I was having irritable sleep.

There's a really good book called 'Oestrogen Matters' by Avrum Bluming which I would recommend based around this subject. He's also done several podcasts, there's a proper good one called 'What is oestrogen and why it Matters' on Liz Earle's site dated 20.1.23

It certainly taught me a thing or two, definitely worth a read and a listen.

HRT here. It has been of huge benefit to me (and those that live with me!) I have yearly mammograms, have had genetic screening and see a breast specialist each year. He was relaxed about me taking HRT and happy to reassure my GP. From a breast cancer risk point of view, he would be much less relaxed about too much booze, or getting porky. He reminds me each year that would not be okay!
