Clitoral Atrophy

Has anyone experienced this? I'm only 44 and perimenopausal. Currently been 11 weeks since my last period so things are really progressing (I think I started in peri around 4 to 5 years ago). I'm not on hrt as I'm currently awaiting an op to check for endometriosis and the consultant says no hrt until I have confirmation of endo as the hormones could make it worse. A few nights ago during sex I realised my clitoris felt numb and DH looked and said it wasn't there. We had to kind of tease it out (tmi sorry) and then was fine but it has definitely retracted and is smaller. I've always had a fairly large prominent clitoris and am terrified it is going to disappear forever. Any experience or advice appreciated! This menopause thing really sucks!

It is a thing. Mine is disappearing and I struggle to climax now. When I do it’s not as nice as it used to be ☹️

Testosterone helps with this. If you are going to have a google about this be careful , I came across a forum where women were dedicated to enlarging theirs and there were lots of photos.

Not sure if you’ll get help on the NHS for this, but clitoral enlargement can be a side effect of testosterone.

Plus oral contraceptives reduce the size of the clitoris. So if you are on oral contraceptives you might want to stop and find a different method of birth control.

Clitoral vascularization and sexual behavior in young patients treated with drospirenone-ethinyl estradiol or contraceptive vaginal ring: a prospective, randomized, pilot study - PubMed

Six-month treatment with hormonal contraception is associated with a diminished MFSQ score. However, the frequency of sexual intercourse and orgasm was reduced only by the use of OC. The OC use was associated with increased pain during intercourse.

omg I think I'm suffering from this also. Actually started my own thread yesterday about lack of clitarol arousal. It actually does feel like my clitoris has disappeared. Infact I'm feeling less arousal in my clitoris since starting the microgynon contraceptive pill just 2 or 3 months ago. I am 45 I think I will stop taking the pill. Have things improved for you OP?

Ovestin used externally helps, and full HRT.
