41 too young?

Had my mirena taken out nearly 3 years ago now to try for a baby with DP, it's never happened, we've pretty much accepted it won't happen now, (previous partner I had 3 children with and many mcs so it's not a case of I've always struggled, quite the opposite)

But my periods when back to 26/28 day cycles like clock work,

However, over the last 12 months or so, they have been 18, 20, 38, 46 day cycles, they are all over the place, this month it was a 20 day cycle. They are heavy for first day or two, a few clots, lasts about 4/5 days.

I have night sweats.

Currently under going health checks for the following symptoms,

Insomnia
Periods of high HR
dizziness
Fainting

All much worse around my period.

I've lost weight, without hardly trying,

I am booked in to have the mirena put back in next week. Usually stops my periods so at least I can hopefully sort that out!

Is 41 too young?

I have heard doctors say anyone in their 40's is in 'perimenopause' whether they have symptoms or not. I was 40, so I had blood tests- 45 and they go by symptoms to diagnose. You could get a hormone profile to check. Your symptoms could be peri, but a test at your age is what they use to diagnose.

There's no such thing as too young if you have the symptoms.

Average age of menopause (that's periods stopping for good) is 51 but the range is 45- 55.

Erratic cycles are usually the first sign. If your periods were to stop before 45, it would be classed as early menopause and the medical guidance is to use HRT at 51 at least to protect your bones and heart.

If you want medical help, and HRT, you should talk to your GP.
Please don't allow them to dismiss you as too young.
