Brain fog

Can I just check (because I am getting myself wound up about this). Am late 40s and peri but not awful symptom wise.

That said, have had a week of migraines and feeling under the weather plus stressed and a bit tired.

Was in the office and a junior colleague came over and started talking to me. Someone I see every month or so. Except for a good 30 seconds I thought she was another junior colleague who I see about the same frequency and to whom she bears a passing resemblance - roughly same age, build, colouring and accent.

I've always had an excellent memory for faces and in general in fact. I've definitely been a bit more fuzzy recently though.

Brain fog yes?

Possibly. Are you sleeping ok, drinking enough water and getting some exercise? Cutting sugar and refined carbs helps too.

I think being tired could make you do that.

Plus you realised after 30 seconds - I wouldn't be too concerned.

iamthattree · 09/07/2023 08:04

Thank you both. To be fair I think the migraines played a big part as I had one the evening before plus another the next morning so was distinctly fuzzy! I was off and not able to focus all week.

I’d keep monitoring it and perhaps visit gp if it continues.

Brain fog possibly.
I work in a small school. I see the SAME colleagues EVERY day. Yet, at least once a day, someone will say good morning and I will stare blankly, wondering what their name is!

I'm on amitriptyline for nerve pain and am often a bit fuzzy in the mornings, so for me it's a bit of both.

iamthattree · 09/07/2023 09:49

@Runaround50 that is actually reassuring!

Dh just pointed out that in the day in question I had got stuck on a train for 3 hours, turned up late to an important client meeting which I then ran then had 2 other meetings before I even got to the office.

Then add in the migraines and the fact I hadn't slept brilliantly. Oh and my hrt that I've jus started doesn't seem to suit me at all and I kept crying.

And now I'm obsessing about early onset dementia.

God I love a bit of health anxiety.....

@iamthattree oh bless you.
It sounds as though we are in similar situations. I often obsess about onset of early dementia. Except I'm 52 and I feel I may have it!! 🤔

Every ache and pain I have to analyse to the enth degree, convincing myself I have some life limiting illness.

Yes, tell me about health anxiety....🙈
