Fibroids. Ablation experience??

I am 51. 5 months ago so had a hysterscopic endometrial ablation and fibroid removal (myosure) done for severely heavy periods. The fibroid was almost 5 cm. The surgery went well and periods were significantly lighter… my about 75%. Biopsies of endometrium and fibroid were all clear.
The last two periods I have had one-two heavy days with occasional flooding. Still not anywhere near where it was but considering the procedure really don’t understand where this still comes from.
surgeon said there was still part of fibroid in the wall So bleeding could still be coming from the base of it?
I’ll go in October for an ultrasound to see where things are at.
Anybody have any or both of these procedures that could share outcomes?

I had it and my understanding is it can take up to three periods to normalise.

im not yet at the point of it being normalised so it’s a case of watch this space!

Sadly it’s been 6 cycles and it’s going from lighter to heavier. So disappointing!😩

I went for an ablation but they couldn't do it due to a fibroid. They said it made my uterus the wrong shape (?) and ablation therefore wouldn't work.
They said I need a hysterectomy- that was 2yrs ago...still waiting with heavy painful periods and bleeding most days

Interesting. Thank you.
I’m sadly hoping a hysterectomy is the next treatment recommendation…

I have fibroids and had a microwave ablation in 2010. Didn’t work. As in, made no difference whatsoever and on ultrasound now it’s impossible to tell the operation was carried out.

I had an ablation which didn’t work and then an embolisation which did. Would the latter be an option?

njshep · 28/06/2023 21:45

I’m not sure. I’m going to ask about embolisation. Apparently over half women with an ablation never get another period again and then for others does not work at all. So strange.

Read
the research on green tea and fibroids ! It will blow your mind !

My ablation was life changing but it didn't stop my periods. They just got significantly lighter. I was told that they wouldn't do it if I had fibroids.

I'm now 50 and have adenomyosis, fibroids and an ovarian cyst which has to be monitored plus regular periods (annoyingly).

I'd be surprised if they will do a hysterectomy - I was told that because I'm so near to menopause they will just wait now. I also wish I could have had one!
