I’m so ANGRY

I have no idea where it comes from. I can keep it together mostly, for people I like, or respect, but my idiotometer is broken. I just cannot filter. Someone, usually at work, does something so ridiculous that I have to point it out. I open my mouth to do so politely and out comes a rant.

It is worse when I’m on the progesterone part of the month and as I take that for the first 13 days of the month I find I’m angry for a fortnight. But particularly bad around the middle of the month.

could taking more oestrogel help? I’m on two pumps in the morning. Or am I just a nasty person?

Your not a nasty person!MENOPAUSE is horrible,It changes you!I am normally a very calm laid back person.OMG!Now I can't keep my mouth shut!At work I say what I think!Everyone annoys me!I get such a build up of anger and normally I will zip it!MENOPAUSE makes me fly off the handle!unfortunately I have not been able to get any help from GP!!!due to never any appointments!!!!!So I am treating myself using black cohosh herbal remedy!it takes a while to kick in!I'm not sure whether it is working😂Maybe speak with your doctor if you can as they might have to change your dosage.Good luck.

I’m sorry you’re going through it too. Although it is nice to know I am not alone.

It is an awful feeling and it can’t be nice for the recipient of my rage. My employer talks the menopause talk but doesn’t actually DO anything, or care particularly.

I have been offered talking therapy. I any take black cohosh as I have a history of oestrogen receptive breast cancer and an autoimmune liver disease.

Do you think the talking therapy will help!I think if it was me I would have to steer clear of it as I'm sure I would rant at the therapist if I thought they were an idiot😂

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 16/06/2023 10:40

Yep - I get the rage. I'm becoming aware that I'm saying things audibly when I thought I was just internalising it.

My most frequent phrase lately is 'Did I just say that out loud?'

This rage also has me bursting into tears when, for instance, I do something inconsequential like drop a spoon.

Try as I might - it's impossible to control.

This is what I was wanting to change most when I started HRT over a year ago - no change as yet despite increases in dosage.

Showerroomlove · 17/06/2023 00:27

I feel your pain. I have suffered some uncontrollable rages over the most petty things - a torn plastic bag once! 😳

However, strange as it may seem, testosterone appears to make me calmer overall, and probably more rational when I do argue now. I realised this when I had to stop taking testosterone because my levels were a bit high whilst the doctor reviewed them. I don’t know if it’s just the fact that my hormones are a bit better balanced overall.

I’ve also employed a rolling pin on my pillow on more than one occasion rather than getting into any argument when DP has unleashed the Kraken, and have pondered the purchase and permanent set up of a punchbag to get the rage out of my system whilst keeping fit 😀

I had to leave my two previous jobs due to irrational anger and irritation towards colleagues, I just couldn't them anymore. I said things to my manager I never should have, I'm amazed looking back I wasn't sacked. I went onto HRT a year ago when I started my current job and have been a different person, laid back, getting on with everyone, it has been amazing.

AnythingMuppetTM · 17/06/2023 10:03

Well it’s nice to know I’m not alone but it’s horrible too.

I think I’ve always been a bit of a martyr to my hormones, but peri-menopause was like a dreadful version of puberty. I have been on HRT for about three years and it’s lessened the frequency and intensity. I’m very stressed right now and stress seems to make it worse. I try to keep my stress levels low but these are things outside my control.

Those of you in testosterone, may I ask how and why you were prescribed it? I’m under a hospital menopause clinic and it’s not been mentioned.

I have also read that progesterone is supposed to pacify but I don’t find this. I wonder if my levels of oestrogen v progesterone v testosterone are unbalanced?

I don’t know why I’m not sacked but when I’m angry it’s because the people at work are doing things that are so obviously ridiculous/dangerous/stupid/ that I don’t know how they’ve kept their more senior roles. I’m noticing so much idiocy in people senior to me. Maybe I’m just not playing the game?

I am on a pathway to begin an autism Assesment because what happens to me has been described as meltdown. I get so overwhelmed and can’t always remember events. I’m not violent just so upset and I really need to be alone but people are always about.

it’s people, that’s the problem!

I discussed my symptoms with my GP who contacted the menopause “expert” for the region (I’m not sure how to describe the person, they are based in a city about 40 miles from me). I had to have blood tests before being prescribed to check that my testosterone level was low, and then again 3 months after taking it.

My symptoms were lack of energy or motivation, and lack of libido.
