Menopause at 44

Hi, my periods fully stopped a few months ago, had a recent hormone blood tests which suggest menopause. Need it repeated in 4-6 wks. After doing some reading I feel I have been living with menopause symptoms for the past few yrs, fatigue, joint pain, anxiety and feeling sad. Thought it was just the joys of being a single parent, arthritis and ageing.
Have read online the need for HRT due to experiencing menopause before 45? Anyone similar experience, what did you take?
I've only slight waves of hotness, nothing extreme. My biggest issue is fatigue, finding it difficult with my commute to work and my mood is so low, feeling grumpy too.
Any suggestions what HRT I would need, looking some advice before speaking to my doctor. Never thought I would be experiencing menopause at 44. Thanks

I'm 44 and blood tests showed I'm menopausal! Doctor put me on patches but only started using them ,the last few weeks my blood pressure is high and I'm dizzy ,could this be menopause related??????? Thanks

No idea, all these symptoms are new to me. Think I need to do some research before I try anything. Hope you get some answers here.

Menopause is defined as 12 months after your last period. So I think you're likely to be in perimenopause. It's normal for periods to go haywire during perimenopause so you could find your periods come back at any point (be prepared!).
There's lots of info on the Louise Newson Balance website about different types of HRT. You'll need progesterone (a tablet or the coil) and estrogen (patches, gel or tablet are most common forms). Transdermal (patches and gel) are lower risk than tablets.
Be prepared to be a bit pushy with GP. Go with a list of symptoms and a suggestion of what you'd like to try. Good luck!

Ps. 44 isn't that young for perimenopause.

I'm 44 and have just this morning agreed with my GP to give oestrogen patches a try - I have a Mirena coil so get progesterone through that. I've had a few symptoms for a few months now - brain fog, night sweats, low mood, so while my blood tests were inconclusive she thinks it's "likely" peri menopause.

I'm happy to give HRT a go at least. If anyone can tell me what to expect with the patches I'd be grateful.

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal i have Mirena and patches and I would say you should expect to see the benefit quite quickly. Keep a diary of symptoms.
