Periods suddenly stopped 5 months ago - 43yrs old

Just looking if others have experienced this. I turned 43 in January and my periods stopped. No easing off, or gradual changes, regular as clockwork previously. Took a pregnancy test to be certain it wasn't that. My mother went through peri in her late 40s and meno 51/52.

The GP pondered a bit as peri/meno is an explanation but she said I am at the young end for this. Did a few tests - anaemic for one - and then this lovely GP vanished and her replacement is a disinterested male GP (ok ok he was probably overworked but...), he read from the screen and got me off the phone asap.

I have a curiosity around if this is simply a normal part of the process of peri?? I keep wondering if something is blocked! In two weeks it will be 6 months of no period. Would you just roll with it??

Following as I'm in the same boat. 45 and no periods for 6 months. Done multiple pregnancy tests, all negative. Had extensive blood tests at gp. She said my hormone levels were ok so not menopause but I know they can vary day to day so not sure. No vitamin or mineral deficiencies. No sign of polycystic ovary syndrome. Ultrasound fine and again no sign of pcos so I'm at a loss. I should probably follow it up again but no other symptoms of menopause so don't feel I need hrt

That's interesting @crochetcrazy1978 . It sounds like you've had lots of tests.

This new GP of mine mumbled something about bloods being fine but I wasn't sure what he was referring to - I thought he meant the anaemia. The female GP told me to take iron supplements for a month and then retest and we'd go from there, but I felt shut down by the male GP like I was wasting his time when it was obviously perimenopause at my age. I haven't had a period as a 43 year old so peri has started for me at 42 - it does seem young to just shrug and accept, but I feel uninformed.

You might find your periods start up again for a few months, then stop again for another few months etc - that's what happened to me. I was about your age when that started happening. Still had the odd period at 47/48, but went on HRT at that point.
