I’m on oral oestrogen following a hysterectomy nearly 2 years ago, and I am overweight (although fairly active as I walk large dog 3+ miles per day, usually average 14,000 steps and do a weights PT session once a week). Mostly eat homemade but do enjoy my wine!

I’ve got a sharp stabbing pain in my outer upper thigh that’s worse when I’m moving, but it has also been affected by the weighted blanket I sleep under. Area looks a bit swollen. Am paranoid about DVT - has anyone on HRT had a DVT in their leg and were there early signs please? Or am I just being overly ridiculous???

You need to see a Dr.

But blood clots are not usually as you describe. They are more often in calves, are red and swollen, hot, and don't come and go.

Why doesn't your dr swap you to transdermal estrogen? Much safer especially if you are overweight.

Because I had a hysterectomy including removal of my ovaries at 45, transdermal patches didn’t work. The only thing that has is having the oral oestrogen. I’m phoning 111 now to see if they think it’s serious 🤷🏼‍♀️

Not sure what you mean by this.

Patches or gel are suitable for women who have had a hysterectomy. It just means getting the dose right. In fact, more estrogen is lost in digestion with tablets compared to transdermal.

Sorry - too brief an answer. When on gel and patches, my symptoms were much worse. Body aches and pains, hot flushes, mood fluctuations including depression , severe fatigue. With the oral form, don’t have these.
