Could this be perimenopause?

Morning all.
I posted a while back about my period been out of whack.
I'm 44.
I came on my period 17th May and am still on it now!
At first it was heavy, a normal for me period. Then it slowed down and I thought it had stooped, everyday since around day 9 it's been there.
No clotting, not heavy and sometimes only know its there when wiping.
I've got to call gp in the morning for an appointment but until then I'm now getting worried. This is not a normal period for me.
I have no other symptoms, no headaches, no clotting, no temperature. Eating, drinking and exercising as usual.

Is an almost 3 week period normal for someone my age, possibly hitting perimenopause?

Yeah, sounds normal.

Please don't worry. Hormones fluctuate massively once over 40yrs old, erratic periods including prolonged or missing a period are absolutely normal. Read up on peri so you know what else to expect.

Of course get checked out if you're worried though. Is your cervical screening up to date?

TBH the medical advice is that you track periods for 6 months when this kind of thing happens, before seeing a dr, but for someone your age it's likely to be hormonal.

The only times to get an urgent appt is if you are post menopausal and have bleeding, or uncontrollable flooding etc. (which can be treated depending on the cause.)

It's up to you if you talk to your ft but they are unlikely to offer anything other than say it's peri meno and contact them again if you need medication or treatment for unbearably heavy periods (which could be fibroids or hormonal.)

Don't want to sound unsympathetic but it's absolutely normal and not really a GP matter .

I’m on the very same now. I’m 49 - very regular periods since 13 yrs old ( until I had Covid jabs, then it went all loopy and mad) anyway, it sort of regulated itself and now last two months it’s mad.
Started like a light spotting on day 10 - the it got heavy on day 17 , I mean very heavy for few days, slowed down, almost thought it finished - but nope, still going on 2 weeks later.

Fibroids are very common.

But no, I don’t think it’s normal. It’s unlikely to be anything life threatening but fibroids can cause anaemia.
