Night waking

I have no trouble going to sleep and sleep great for like 2 hours or so but often wake at like 1am and can't get back to sleep, I feel restless and just can't settle. I've tried doing breathing/relaxation but it doesn't seem to help. I'm often then awake until 2, 3 or sometimes even 4. I get up at 6 for work. Sometimes moving to the spare room helps, sometimes getting up for a banana helps. But it's very annoying and makes me very tired. Anyone else? Any tips? What works for you? Thanks.

I have this problem. I've bought myself a Snoozeband. I look ridiculous but it's very comfortable and I can now listen to podcasts to help me get back to sleep. I find I only have to listen to the first 5 minutes of most of the podcasts before drifting off. It has to be something sufficiently interesting to stop the thought loop in my mind that is keeping me awake. Sometimes I have to put on podcasts 3 or 4 times throughout the night, so I'm still waking up lots but at least I can go back to sleep much quicker than before. My DH can't hear any noise from the snoozeband.

Are you taking any hrt as I found this helped with my night waking for the most part. It is so frustrating waking up in the night and then not being able to get back to sleep. I find trying not to get too frustrated by it can help get back to sleep, but when it's night after night it's a bit difficult to think that way.

i'm older and well post menopausal and yes until recently was awake most nights between 2-4 (although relaxed).
game changer has been magnesium. in fairly high dosage but better than melatonin or ashwanghara.
i'm taking Pure Synergy; Vit-A-Min Herb for women and Bone Renewal.
not sure what that adds up to mg wise at the moment. i'm sure you can find something equivalent if that's a path you want to try.

Thanks all, I've got a headband thing I will dig it out and charge it up, thanks for the reminder.

I can't get on with HRT at all - I'm too sensitive to oestrogen. I have tried magnesium but it didn't seem to help, however I will try and remember to take my iron supplements as that does help with twitchy legs, again thanks for the reminder.

I've got some herbal nytol tincture which helps me get to sleep, and I've just ordered some rescue remedy night for when I wake up.

You're right that getting stressed about it doesn't help.

Menopause, the gift that keeps on giving.

I’d take the rescue remedy at first and the nytol at 2 when you wake up, try to break the habit- I sometimes think worrying about it makes your head wake you up.
