SSP for Utrogestan announced

There's now an SSP in place for Utrogestan till later in the year.

Prescriptions will be for 2 months at a time. Supply is still patchy but besins are apparently tackling that to meet demand.

They are increasing production and also building a new factory where it will be made.

I know this isn't really the point BUT so many women here are struggling with Utrogestan because of side effects.

It's as if GPs don't know what else is out there.

There are plenty of other options that many women may prefer. Unfortunately, we've gone from Utrogestan being rarely prescribed (as it was when I first tried it) to being the default now.

Utrogestan is safer (it seems) if it's used long term but for many women who use HRT for 2 to 5 years only, there are a lot of other good options including patches, tablets and the Mirena.

I hope GPs will re-educate themselves and not think it's the only option.

Yes it is safer longer term and I certainly found it helped sleep and actually some of the other peri issues.

I'm getting some break through bleeding so considering coil as well.

However this post is just to raise awareness of this.

There's is potentially also consideration for those of us on thyroxine as it appears to reduce a hormone that can bind to thyroxine. This affecting how much we are on. I've had to drop a little. And anecdotally and from experience, help with water retention. I personally find i need it as much as my oestrogen!
