Does this prescription sound right?

After a referral to a menopause clinic, the consultant has prescribed:

Estradiol patches (Evorel 25) change twice weekly
Estradiol pessaries 10mcg twice weekly
Progesterone 100mg tablets daily

He mentioned the importance of testosterone - but I have two Estrodiol and one progesterone. Before I start using them, does this sound right?

I'm sure others with more knowledge will be along but yes, the pessary has only a tiny amount of hormones so doesn't really count as a double dose.

Sounds fine. If the pessary provides too much moisture cut it down, I Have it twice a week only now

Why you here of a Dr told you what to do follow your instructions to feel better to the max 🙂

Because I've worked in the NHS for 25 years and know Doctors do get it wrong! He specifically mentioned testosterone so just wanted an opinion.

Is there a reason you were referred to a clinic rather than your GP sorting it- ie complex issues?

The estrogen dose is the lowest and depending on your symptoms you might need to increase it. Is he reviewing it in 12 weeks?

Testosterone isn't usually started until your estrogen levels are optimal.

Yes, complex issues! GP wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, neither would a private registrar! It took a lot of fighting to see the consultant rather than just be dismissed and "take antidepressants".

And yes, I have a telephone appointment in 6 weeks, and then a face to face in 12 weeks.

And thanks for explanation re testosterone. That makes sense.

Hello

This is my first week on the Evorel 25 patches, I am borderline peri-menopausal apparently even though bloods are ok.

I had an Hysterectomy in 2019 (only uterus removed) still have my ovaries.

I have been suffering with joint pain, low mood, anxiety for a long time done loads of tests all come back fine so this is what I am trying now to see if this helps.

would be great if anybody else is in a similar situation and if this is the right treatment for this, would like to know more about the side effects with this too,I have been told it’s a low dose but trying to find out more
