Coil or not

I'm not on hrt. Back story a year ago gp put me on patches 50, and utrogestan 100. Eventually this was increased and my patches when to 100. I still wasn't really getting relief.

A diff gp then told me that menopause was a difficult area of medicine and he can only refer me to a consultant. Eventually had a phone call with consultant. She put me on the gel ( 4 pumps per day) as well as norethisterone.

This was mainly for mu periods which are horrific. She mentioned the coil but wanted me to have a scan first. During this time I lost my mind. Depressed angry suicidal at times anxious ..I was a nightmare. Had a scan and have a small 1x fibroid. I came off thr hrt because I couldn't stand it anymore.

Spoke again to gp who said as I'm under a consultant there is nothing they can do. Consultant now saying I have a year wait to speak to me again!
This is despite her saying she would follow me up in 4 months time.
I called her back to ask about the coil but she ( secretary) said I have been referred for this to be fitted but I have a years wait.

So I called back my gp and asked about the coil. They told me I have to have phone call with a gp about it and then, if they agree I cam have one which is a 6 months wait.

My question really is will this likely suit me. for years I was on the combined pill and was fine, no issues. It was really only norethisterone that sent me loopy but jot sure why. I need to control my periods because they are awful but I'm worried about poor mental health as a side effect.
sorry for the ramblings and thanks for reading

I had horrendous mental health with the utrogestan.

Vaginal utrogrstan was brilliant but gives me thrush.

So my next step is to try a coil. I've made it clear if I go crackers again though I'm not leaving it in 'to see how it goes'!

The Mirena coil and estrogen (100 patches) have been great for me. It's stopped my periods altogether and I'm on a much more even keel.
I tried the gel for a bit and I lost my mind. Back on the patches and it's all fine.
That sounds like a very long wait for you. If you want a coil couldn't you just go and get one fitted at a sexual health clinic?

Yes I'm on their list too. Had to say it was for contraception not hrt. Not sure they believed me so I suspect I won't hear back from them again

Mirena coil (this is my third one now) and oestrogen gel work great for me.

Yes I had to say it was for contraception too @superplumb . Do you have any other sexual health clinics nearby? I'm in a city so there are several and you can go to any of them. Do you have a Marie Stopes nearby?

No sadly not

The Mirena seemed to help my monthly rages.
