So another thing I seem to se experiencing is major headaches I'm guessing there migraines as there so bad. Is this something else the perimenopause brings and if so what do people take because paracetamol and ibuprofen don't seem to work
Thanks

I started getting migraines with the menopause. Awful pain that paracetamol and ibuprofen didn’t touch. Went to my gp and got some sumatriptans just for when they are really bad. I found they were a phase and gradually went away.

Sumatriptans are brilliant, always suffered with migraines and after a 3 day one when I was about to blow my head off I seen a tablet called sumatran was now available OTC(in Ireland anyway) and it was gone in 20 mins

I found my migraines have more or less disappeared since entering peri menopause, although occasionally I still get them but they're more stomach migraines with awful aura and vertigo, so they're still about but in a different form

I’ve always had migraine but now I’m in menopause (full hysterectomy) they are horrific and worse. You can get sumatriptan over the counter and I’m now on repeat prescription for it, amazing stuff. Aspirin is meant to be best for migraine, then ibuprofen with codeine and paracetamol not so good. My pharmacist says take magnesium and I’ve also hear avoid a lot of protein at night.

Try aspirin before you go down the route of getting sumatriptan. Sumatriptan is very strong and has heavy side effects. I was taking it for years then found out aspirin also helps. Haven't had to touch sumatriptan for a few years and feel much better for it..

I never found normal pain killers helped at all, didnt even put me to sleep. The relief with sumatriptan was incredible. I wont be without them now even though they are significantly reduced for me

Magnesium supplement tablets. They almost eliminate them entirely for me.

You need to get them diagnosed. There are several different causes of severe headaches and you need to rule out the others before assuming it's migraine. You also need to know if you're getting auras with them or not. Yes perimenopause can cause them though. Migraines are very sensitive to hormones which is why most sufferers are women.
