Hi just joined the group
I was just wondering is anyone else is having high blood pressure while going through perimenopause
I went to docs today as I haven't had a period for 7 weeks the all of a sudden one arrived but I've been bleeding for coming up 3 weeks. So doc did blood pressure and its classed as high but I've never had high blood pressure not even when I was pregnant

Were you anxious? Mine is always high at the doctor. I take it at home instead.

I had BP problems during two pregnancies, but nothing after that until I reached my forties. It was ignored by the GP, despite asking for further investigation until my when I was in menopause - I was given various tablets all with side effects and developed oedema in my legs which has become much worse over time. This is maybe a bit extreme sounding however I would advise you to ask your GP for further investigation.

I now have a BP monitor similar to this https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7618189?clickPR=plp:8:18
(cheaper ones are available!) Keep a record of your morning and evening readings (you can store them on the monitor in some models) and take this with you to the GP and ask for further investigation. Some GP surgeries may provide one for home monitoring

I know stress is one of my triggers so make a note of what you feel are triggers and measure your BP at these points to and see if your BP is affected.

Yes. I developed high blood pressure during perimenopause, around mid-40s. It had always been normal before, including being perfect all the way through my three pregnancies.

My GP had a bit of trouble getting it under control with medication so referred me to a consultant cardiologist who sorted the meds and reassured me it's inherited hypertension rather than due to anything else. As long as I take my meds (three different ones!) I'll be fine.

Pre hysterectomy (overnight menopause) I had very low blood pressure even during pregnancies. Within a month of op (18 months ago) now have high blood pressure, which I have to take tablets for. GP said very common to get high BP during menopause. I've gone from average of 90/50 to 153/82!!!

Yes me. Perimenopausal and have been diagnosed with high BP for the first time ever. Currently on 5mg Ramipril, but it isn’t coming down that much, so I need to go back.
I have upped my weekly exercise to try to help it.

Thanks for the comments it really helps to see some have had the same issues
Another question I have is I've not had a period for 7 weeks then I came on my period and have been bleeding for nearly 3 weeks now

I'm afraid irregular bleeding is often part and parcel of the perimenopause too, sorry😞It is not fun - also bring up the irregular bleeds when you talk to your GP; you may get some help. I was given a mirena coil which stopped the bleeds altogether, I've been bleed free for 12+ years now (late 50s), but other options may be available.
