I'm 53 and perimenopausal. Anyone getting more freckles/pigmentation at this time? Not just on the face but other part of the body too.

Yup, same here. I look like I've spent the last several decades in the Bahamas (I wish!). Always had a few moles and freckles, but now my arms look like a scatter plot. Ridiculous, especially as I wear long sleeves well into early summer and then plaster myself in sunscreen. My face was the same, but I have tackled that with a combo of azelaic acid, retinol, and niacinamide. All this happened after I went into peri, but only realised the connection later. The joys of our age! 🙄

So it's not unusual to get new freckles at our age?

It seems that some of us are less lucky than others: if you have a general propensity to freckling then chances are this will speed up / intensify. Then again, sun exposure must come into it too. It's just so unfair when I've has been really good about it and still ends up looking like a speckled hen!

Hi there! Many women experience changes in their skin during perimenopause, including an increase in freckles and pigmentation. These changes are typically attributed to hormonal fluctuations that occur during this phase of life. While facial pigmentation is commonly discussed, it's not unusual to observe pigmentation changes on other parts of the body as well. If you're looking for potential solutions, you might consider exploring treatments like Body Pigmentation Peels. Aesthetic clinics often offer these types of peels, which can help reduce the appearance of pigmentation and promote a more even skin tone. Remember to consult with a skincare professional before undergoing any treatments to ensure they are suitable for you. Best of luck on your journey to finding a solution that works for you. ❤
