Can too much oestrogel make you weepy?

I’m on 3.5 pumps a day to manage terrible insomnia.
Past few weeks the joint pains, night waking and very early morning waking started up again, so I trialled increasing to 4 pumps.
Now I’m feeling delicate, weepy and over emotional. I can’t tell whether it’s caused by lack of sleep, a virus or the oestrogel.
Does too much oestrogel make you feel weepy?

It seems to for me. I think technically it's not expected but you are not the only person experiencing this. I'm only on one pump per day and have tried to up it 3 times now, only to 1.5 ish and all 3 times I've ended up overly emotional, clumsy, lacking in confidence and a weeping mess hiding under my duvet tearful.

Having said that I would probably be feeling similar if I'd had severe sleep problems. Working out what works for you is a painful process. Good luck!

Not in my experience but I'm in Prozac so I don't cry in general.

I would imagine maybe if you didn't have any progesterone to oppose the oestrogen it might cause an imbalance?

I have the mirena coil, would that be an option....if you don't already have it..

It did for me. I was on Evorel patches which I was allergic to - the adhesive was giving me a nasty rash on my skin. So the doctor swapped me to gel and I HATED it, my anxiety was through the roof, had my first ever panic attack, just felt awful.

Now back on a different brand of patches and feel so much better. I think that it's one of those cases where different things suit different women. How long have you been using the gel? If it's been a couple of months or more, it might be worth going back to the GP and asking to try something else?

I have a mirena coil and still experience this.

I've just double checked in my copy of Hormone Intelligence and it states High Estrogen can cause:

  • Cyclic Breat Tenderness
  • Endometriosis
  • Heavy Periods
  • Menstrual Migraines
  • Mood Swings
  • Short Menstrual cycle
  • Fibroids
  • Bloating/Water Retention

Thinking about it I also changed progesterone from 1 vaginal and 1 oral to 2 x oral, whilst still eating around progesterone time,
Could changed absorption of utrogestan also cause weepiness I wonder?

@HairyKitty - yes I'd say the Utrogestan orally may be the issue. If you haven't already read the thread Utrogestan Hopelessness. Very useful.
