Can’t have HRT- what can I try?

Hello everyone, I’ve been told I can’t have HRT due to family history and my own hormone-sensitive conditions. Is there anything else anyone can recommend?

I get very sweaty during the day but have never had night sweats. I do still get really period-like hormonal states once every couple of months (having one now, lasts for about a week. I start to hate my husband and don’t speak to anyone). The sweating and hot flashes are the worst symptoms- would be very grateful for any suggestions.

TIA

I'm the only one in my friendship group who's doing ok going through menopause but it may just be luck (or things might get worse for me!!)
I take menopace vitamins everyday and have done religiously for years now, I also take a vegan omega 3-6-9 supplement from Holland & Barrat everyday too.
I obviously have no idea how I'd be without these two supplements but I'm guessing they must be doing something?

Thanks @otherwayup.
I went into a fairly early menopause almost directly after I had my son so it’s been going on for years. I’ve been in it now newly 20 years but the last few years (early fifties) have been the worst. I think I’ve tried Menopace but I’ll look at them again.
I’ll definitely try the omega supplement so thanks for that.

I tried taking supplements mid forties but didn't really stick to it. For the last few years I've taken them every single day, even on holiday!

@thisismyname2016 Do check and get another opinion on the family history side.

A lot of posters are told they can't have HRT for family history reasons, yet when they say what they are, it's often the dr who is mistaken.

The only reason is if your mum or sister had breast cancer at a young age, and even then it's not a no-no, just something to bear in mind. You'd be advised to be tested for the BRACa gene in that case. (I don't have time to link but there is a video on the British Menopause Society website on the precise question.)

Did you have a premature menopause? periods stopped before 40) If so, you need to see a specialist and have your bone density assessed.

I am unsure whether to take HRT. Have just started on Menopace following a recommendation - might be worth a try.

Can you get a mirena coil fitted? That has some hormones in but is only locally acting. Has stopped my periods and my few days each month when I felt like I was losing grip.

I'm on Hrt but before that took Menopace for about a year. I started on the basic ones, they made a huge difference and brought the hot flushes under control. Then one day I tried Menopace plus, with botanicals. I didn't realise there were green AND red tablets in the box, so accidently just took the botanical red ones!
Back to flushes and sweats within a couple of days, thinking the tablets were crap before I realised you're meant to take both!!!

They're not necessary now, but my mistake taught me just how well these tablets work and they're definitely worth it if you can't take Hrt!

I've had some success at reducing hot flushes with sage tablets. As others mention though, it might be worth asking for a referral to a specialist. GPs' knowledge of the menopause is usually woefully inadequate.

I found some benefit with black cohosh. Also bought a wool bed topper, which is cool and treated myself to Egyptian cotton bedding.

More recently I have been taking magnesium glycerinate. There was a thread on here which had some links to some good articles. I'm definitely sleeping better.

Menopace calcium works for me.

Would Livial/Tibolone be okay with your medical history?

What is the family history?
