Feel like I'm going round in circles

Hi ,
Just a little rant and hopefully some advise.
I'm 43 and have weird symptoms since i was around 40.

Thinning of hair
Random aches and pains
Palpitations, which I've been in hospital for. As felt like my heart was pausing then restarting.
Periods getting shorter
Absolutely exhausted all the time
But no hot sweats yet, but do feel puffy in if that makes sense.

Doctor has dismissed me being peri menopausal, and has said it can't be that. He said I'm too young , but from what I've read, it can start in 30's

Are my symptoms peri menopause related , I know no one can say yes or no but I'm just so confused and feeling deflated .

@Mimi1980 I’m sorry your GP isn’t taking you seriously- it’s frustrating. It absolutely could be peri- menopause and early menopause requires HRT management to protect your cardiovascular and bone health.
Take the NICE guidance and look at the Balance app/website to bolster your argument. You can ask for a blood test to check your FSH levels (usually 2 tests 6 weeks apart) which can give you an idea if you’re menopausal. You don’t need this blood result to initiate treatment.
If there are other GPs ask for a woman or someone with an interest in menopause. Do your research and advocate for yourself. I’d recommend a mirena and some topical oestrogen.

My periods stopped completely by the time I had just turned 46. I was definitely peri at 43. Your GP should know better.

Thank you , will certainly look up all the information you have given.
It's a shame we have to fight to be heard but thank you very much .

They should as like I've said . I read you can be peri as early as 30+.
I hope all is ok with you .

Urgh. Doctors!!

I'm 43, started with some symptoms at 40 and had a blood test last year that confirmed I was indeed well into peri.

@RollingInTheCreek I am on month three of my HRT and really struggling with the utrogestan (makes me utterly exhausted), I'm curious about why you suggest the Mirena? I've read lots of threads about this but in your professional experience is it better tolerated than utrogestan?

I have tried it in the past twice but the first time I didn't stop bleeding and the second time I could feel it and managed a fortnight before it was taken out.

RollingInTheCreek · 27/03/2023 11:02

@Moredarkchocolateplease I would always recommend the Mirena personally (appreciate it doesn’t work for everyone!). It had more localised effects but provides the much needed progesterone component. Often people who struggle with utrogestan get on better with it. It’s difficult if you’ve tried it and not a fan- it isn’t for everyone but could be worth a try again. You could try a different type of progesterone eg norithisterone as an alternative.

SleekMamma · 27/03/2023 11:02

If course it's perimenopause.
