Pelvic scan for peri?

just wondering if any ladies here can help me.
I’ve had longer periods for a few months now, night sweats, anxiety, and irregular bleeding, I had a blood test that said my hormone levels were high, apologies I’m not sure what this was, but the doctor confirmed that levels as high as mine could point towards peri menopause.
Gp sent me for an ultra sound to check everything looked ok, I thought she would be checking for fibroids etc, but it was external scan, I was told that ovaries looked very healthy, and didn’t look like I was menopausal! The scan lasted about two minutes she was confident I could go.
My smear was last done two years ago, and all was ok then, I’m going to talk again to gp, as I’m still having all the symptoms, and irregular bleeding.
Just wondered if anyone has had similar? Do pelvic ultra sounds diagnose peri? I’ve been convinced it was that and now I don’t know what to think! Thank you.

No it can't.

All they can do with a transvaginal scan is look at your ovaries to see if there is any follicular activity and this needs a very expert consultant to see.

The ovaries shrink, post menopause, but certainly not in peri.

If you are having symptoms that is the way they diagnose now.

How old are you @Misspacorabanne? Check out the NICE guidelines about menopause, and take these to your next appointment.

@HagWithAtt im 37, but early meno runs in the family, so I felt certain that this change was the beginnings of that!
Thank you! I’ll discuss things further.

Oh, I see. I'd push for a referral to a menopause specialist in that case.

Would you consider a mirena coil to (hopefully) stop all bleeding ?
