This is peri yes?

Health anxiety sufferer here. Am 48. Had a few mild peri symptoms over the last year or so - nothing major but some aches, weight gain, sleep being messed up.

Up until now my periods have been regular ish. They have got a bit heavier on day 2 for the last 6 months (have always been very manageable). A bit of ovulation spotting but dr checked that out with a scan about 6/7 months ago and all fine.

Well today is about day 16 and a proper clotty period started this morning. It's not heavy and I've got mild tummy ache. I also had a bit of breast tenderness for a few days.

This is normal yes? I have been suffering from heartburn for the past few months and I stupidly saw something re this being an ovarian cancer symptom but that's me being anxious isn't it? I do have a drs appointment for the heartburn coming up (trying some meds first).

It does sound like peri to me yes, but I’m not an HCP. Have you spoken to a GP about it? Do you want HRT?

We have a lot in common OP. I am perimenopausal too, am also a sufferer of health anxiety and am also having tests for heartburn! I have had heartburn for ages (and have grounds to worry about it due to family history) so my health anxiety has had a field day with that. Funnily enough though, just before so saw your post this evening I was thinking about how my heartburn has eased off a lot over the past week or so. I hope yours does too, or that you at least get answers to help you fix it.

Sympathies OP.

Thank you!

I will mention to gp when I see them in a week or two. I did see them re hrt last year but feeling was it was a bit early but I'll raise again.

I think it's just taken me by surprise a bit.

I found that once I realised I was perimenopausal, lots of things started to make a bit more sense. Just little niggles and changes in the body that I’d noticed suddenly had a bit of context (this helped with my health anxiety actually because any vague symptom can now be attributed to peri!) Good luck if you decide to try HRT- I hope it’s helpful for you. It’s made quite a big difference to me so far but only been on it a short time.
