Combined pill = HRT?

I’ve just had an appt with my GP (second one, first was August) where I outlined my peri symptoms. I’m almost 44, and bloods done last Sep said my FSH was 4.2 which only confirms I’m not post-menopausal. My mum went through menopause by age 48 so it’s perfectly feasible that I’m now in peri.

GP was reluctant to prescribe HRT and said the combined pill I’m on should be providing the same benefits as HRT (I’m on Norimin 1mg/0.035mg). She has referred me to a menopause clinic but has anyone else been told this?

Posting to help bump you.
I cannot answer your questions, all I can say is that I had to fight for 6 years to get the HRT I knew I needed. Good luck to you

I am on the combined pill for HRT and it works brilliantly for me. If you are still having symptoms then it might not be right for you. The only thing it doesn't work on for me is the hot flushes.

You aren't too young for HRT.
Some women find that some of the newer Pills work- Qlaira has a type of estrogen that is the same as our own and in most HRT now, but I think most specialists would still offer HRT.

Thanks all. Wonder why it’s not working for me… or perhaps it is and I’d be a lot worse without it. Shall do some research.

@samesame2023 I've been on the combined pill for years. Now I'm peri.
GP wouldn't accept what I said, and told me to take sertraline as I'm 'too young for menopause and HRT has risks' (I'm almost 45)
Saw a private specialist who said that combined pill can mask some symptoms, and I'd have been worse without it. I'm now coming off it and starting HRT instead.

A pill can give you the same benefits but there are other factors
so would you take bio identical HRT, would you try testosterone

I'm going to guess that HRT is more expensive. The GP might be thinking you'll feel better on the pill than HRT but I don't know what NHS HRT options are these days. The only person I know for sure takes HRT is going private.
