Hello,

Does anyone know if low progesterone is an indicator for Peri/ menopause??

Don't know about that but in my mid 30's I had low progesterone which mean 80+ days between periods and struggling to conceive.

Eventually I got pregnant at 36, periods have been like clockwork ever since and no sign of that changing at 52! So in my case it was sticky for conception but not a sign of menopause.

Thanks, this is my problem, am struggling to conceive. Have had one pregnancy in 5 years that ended in an ectopic.

Recently hysteroscopy as scan showed thick lining, plus having mid cycle bleeding. They found nothing sinister but have said results show low progesterone. Have been recommend the coil or POP....but obviously not keen if wanting to carry on ttc....but can't get any answers from the hospital on what the level was & what it means.

A quick Google took me to some pages about early menopause...so naturally concerned. I'm 36

Women only produce progesterone after ovulation each month, so post-meno unless women are using hrt, they won't have any.

If your lining it thick, it possibly means you are not ovulating, as progesterone helps keep the lining thinner.

I think you'd be better asking this in the fertility. trying to conceive forum, TBH.

Hi, you can purchase bio identical progesterone cream from the US health sites.
It's not a progestogen so it will enhance rather than cease your fertility.
If you use it in your luteal phase ie post ovulation it can help to maintain the blastocyst/embryo by maintaining.your uterine lining.
There is plenty of information about this online. It will not be offered by a GP as its a non prescription product. As the progesterone is a natural by product of the synthesis of a yam extract pharma companies could never patent it and therefore it was never an economically viable product for them.
It is however inexpensive and many women with low progesterone have found it helpful for conception.
