How to explain the tiredness

I'm 44 peri and have been struggling for a while. Have spoken to the dr, and have an appt next month to discuss HRT options.

In the short term though, I'd like to ask you all how you manage with the tiredness? I'm just knackered! So exhausted!

I work 4 days a week. 2 kids 3 & 14 and a busy house.

DH does his fair share, and also in excess of 60 hours a week. We are both knackered for different reasons, but I just can't explain to him the tiredness, his answer is always ' you get a day off in the week' (he's not being a dick when he says this) how can I make him understand what it's all about.

What is it you’re trying to get across to him? That you’re tireder than he is? Are there specific things you’re asking him to do to alleviate your exhaustion?

I explain it by going to bed at eight o' clock.

Have you had any blood tests to check your thyroid?

No, not that I'm any tired than him, he's not being snotty or mean about it, and he does more than his fair share around the house and with the kids.

I just don't think he understands, and I don't know how to explain it's more than just 'being tired'.

Bloods were done about 6 months ago, maybe I need to get them checked 🤔

I explain to my hubby as it's like someone has a needle in me drawing the life out of me ... it's a terrible feeling being so tired

I'm sending love because I couldn't do this with a 3 yr old so that's a win on your part.

I explain it like I'm walking through treacle. That I have an over riding voice in my head saying "i'm so tired i could cry".

My husband however has little compassion so i'm as well talking to the wall

Tell him that perimenopause makes women feel a bit run down because it affects their innards. That isn’t very scientific but he might understand run down more than he understands tired.
