No period for 3 months and then 3 or 4 in 9 weeks

As in the title, I didn't get a period for 3 months at least, then Christmas day period arrived, then another 2 weeks later, then another 3 weeks (I think) later, and now another one 3ish weeks later again (I think? - I must track the dates).

I feel a bit brain foggy today also, could just be tiredness. I m going to give up alcohol for lent and maybe track my cycle.

Not really asking anything - just throwing this info out there, in case anyone wants to chat/comment.

I have a few old packs of the mini pill on my bedside locker, and have been meaning to take them again just to regularise my cycle, but have only remembered to take it the odd time. I need to be a bit more focused there too. I ll be 44 soon, so perhaps a little young for these erstic cycles, but within the general age range.

i think my periods started going crazy at 45, so 44 its to far off, could be a sign of things, think i bleed 3 weeks a month and im lucky to have more than 3 days without at the moment! defiantly track them, wish i had to start with then when you need to go to gp you have more info about your cycle

Probably peri menopausal , you're not too young to be starting this. I was younger than that and final period when I was 45.

Your ovaries are struggling to do the job they are supposed to at this stage in your life - this is why it's very common to have shorter breaks between periods and for them to be heavier during peri menopause. You'll get lots of peaks and troughs of oestrogen.
I wouldn't recommend starting on birth control that you have lying around. You should see a doctor and have your blood pressure taken at the very least. What might have been suitable for you a few years ago isn't now. You might find that HRT will help but again, seek proper medical advice.

You're in peri-menopause, and you're definitely not too young. I highly recommend HRT, and go to a private clinic if you can.
