Menopause and changing job

Has anyone switched careers/ jobs due to menopause?

I work as a TA in a SEN school and in the main, really enjoy my job. I am however, totally KNACKERED.

My sleep is awful, I'm on HRT ( patch and coil). I upped the 75 patch to 100 recently and felt ill on it (crampy/bloated/ irritable etc) so I've removed it.

I work 5 days and am finding the pace at school, tough right now. I then go home and start again with housework, pets, teens.

Just wonder whether I'm not up to full time work any longer. I find it so hard to switch off these days.

TBH is it worth trying to get your HRT tweaked? Apart from sleep, is there anything else menopause-y that's not right?

If I understand your post, you have removed your patch/ stopped HRT? Or gone back to 75mcg?

It looks as if you could perhaps make changes outside of work by sharing the load at home.

Are your kids (and partner)pulling their weight? Why are you doing it ALL????

I really don't see why (unless a woman is a single parent) they need to shelve /change career because no one else at home is helping out much.

IF you have a partner, would they be considering p/t work or a career change because they find they have housework/pets/ teens to look after? Nope!

Can you afford a cleaner, for example? Or get your kids to do more?
YOU need some downtime, when you can go to the gym or yoga, or whatever floats your boat.

Your other options are to change schools, move out of SEN into mainstream schools or reduce your hours.
