Anxiety

I have upped my oestrogen this month in an attempt to get rid of anxiety, palpitations, aches & pains, heavy periods, sore gums.... which had returned.

I am currently in the middle of an incredibly stressful life event. And the anxiety is not going. Will it take a while to work? Am on week 3.

What else can I do?

Oestrogel can make women worse, jittery and wired. Sometimes less is more.

Tbh hrt is limited in what it can do, if you're in the middle of a stressful life event you may also need a short course of anti depressants to help you cope. Good luck

I would second anti-depressants. I am on citalopram, I still suffer with bouts of menopausal anxiety but shudder to think what I would be like without this medication. All the best to you op.

Agree with the other posters.
Increase the oestrogen isn't always the answer and its effect can be counter intuitive. M

Maybe a low dose anti d would help or CBD oil ?

Best of luck.

Hmmm. I am not depressed as such. I'm clear why I am anxious due to current events.

I never felt this way before HRT. But then it does help with other peri issues.

Can you take anti anxiety meds for a brief period only?

I'm really sick of my racing heart.

Yes that's usually the plan, a 6 month course of sertrialine or similar to assist through challenging times. Obviously they aren't a long term fix but if the life event resolves you can then taper off. Some with significant mental health problems do take long term but many can benefit from a short course.

I'm not really keen on more meds.
Thinking I might try upping my exercise levels first. But thank you, it's food for thought.
