Horrendous bloating and complete loss of libido

Hello
Really hoping for some positive and practical advice. I've been on Evorel 50 sequi for almost 4 months and although I feel less tired than before, I'm still not ok. Definitely don't feel like myself. I have absolutely zero libido.

I have massive bloating from the point of ovulation and my skin is spotty across my nose and cheeks.
I barely touch alcohol these days (1 glass of wine every couple of weeks) and have a healthy diet (have really cut down on carbs.) I am otherwise slim and exercise.

I feel so unattractive feeling this bloated; all I wear now are jeans/trousers and a shirt.
The bloating is just horrendous and it is crushing what little confidence I have.
The total absence of libido also just makes me feel like a functioning robot. Is this it?
help!

I’ve got the bloating too. It’s always been my problem area but since the menopause it’s horrific. I look constantly pregnant and all my clothes fall oddly. I can’t buy any trousers that aren’t elasticated waists and no fitted dresses.
it does help if I cut out any fizzy drinks and massively reduce carbs but it doesn’t go completely and at ovulation time it’s enormous and hard and also uncomfortable. I used to get one good week after my periods but even seem bloated then now.

so my sympathy and I hope others have answers for us.

Needathickskin · 12/02/2023 07:56

@Deviniaursula yes - this has the 2 weeks of progesterone.

@Tumbleweeder yes, I'm just shocked at how bad the bloating is. I just don't feel I recognise my body anymore. I'm 47....in my twenties and thirties, my body felt like a reliable machine; energy in, energy out.
I've always been slim, athletic and realistic - this is just completely beyond my understanding.
I used to feel attractive - not in a vain way - but like I felt I cared for myself. Now, I don't recognise my own body and I feel so unattractive.

It's not the getting older I am scared of at all - I always wanted to look and feel good for my age - but now I'm at a point where I feel whatever I do is just not working.
I'm limited to wearing cover up clothes and that in turn makes me feel even less like wanting to have sex - not that I have any libido.

yes. Oestrogel and utrogestan

I posted a similar thing yesterday- just about the libido part of it although I have noticed some bloating too, and am struggling to shift the Christmas pounds despite living healthily (regular gym and lowered calorie intake). Am on Evorel Sequi with 50 patches.

Unfortunately I'm reaching the conclusion the hrt is not the magic cure I'd hoped for.

bestbefore · 12/02/2023 08:55

Im on the same and the bloating too at some points in the month. Next month I'm going to make a note as I am hopeless at remembering when etc
Thing is hrt is not just about symptoms reliving/ creating new ones now it's a long term thing. I'm really on it for the bone health. I just wish I had a crystal ball to see my future with or without it!

Tumbleweeder · 12/02/2023 09:24

I felt a million times worse before HRT or when my dose needed increasing- awful fatigue to the point I couldn’t even sit at the table and sat by the time I’d cooked dinner and also night sweats.

my symptoms have always been worse mid cycle around ovulation.

my bloating is aggravated by constipation too which I do think the utrogestan makes worse but laxatives bloat me more so lose lose!

EarringsandLipstick · 12/02/2023 11:18

What about exercise OP? I find this helps a lot, even just in terms of regulating everything.

I would suggest a review with your GP. I had a review after 3 months, then 12. Maybe a higher dosage would help. After 12 months I went to 75 as some patterns of symptoms returned.

Dogsgottabone · 12/02/2023 13:08

I only started HRT five weeks ago but I have bloating on the estrogen part of the cycle and as soon as I start the progesterone (utrogestan) the bloating disappears.

Thankfully my breasts only got swollen on the first fortnight of estrogen and have now gone back to normal.

Would utrogestan have a better impact for you than the sequi maybe?

My periods were so erratic before I started that I'm assuming the HRT cycle is overriding the natural cycle so I can't link anything to my normal way of being.

Needathickskin · 12/02/2023 15:19

@EarringsandLipstick I'm already doing exercise and quite religiously so! (Rowing
and swimming). It's the bloat which is phenomenally unpleasant .

I've had a bit of relief from this by taking the multivitamins from Boots with the live gut bacteria in. 4 quid a tub, worth a go?
