Hair loss

Hi, I’ve noticed a general slowdown of hair growth all over, I’m not having to shave my legs so often. Just the last couple of weeks I’ve had more hair than normal coming out on my hairbrush. I’m assuming this is an age/menopause thing. I’m 51, reluctant to take hrt as I’m managing okish with other symptoms. Just wondering if others have experienced this, is it a phase that will pass, hopefully while I still have some hair left? Any other advice? I’ve just started taking biotin but can’t take collagen as I’m vegan.

Iron levels need to be 70 plus

Thanks, I had a blood test recently and doctor said iron levels were fine but they didn't give me a figure. Maybe I can ask.

You need to get your ferritin level checked. Doctors will say your iron is fine if you're not anaemic or if your ferritin is within the normal lab reference ranges but those are completely wrong. Join the Iron Protocol group on FB and read their guides. Always get a copy of your blood test results, don't rely on doctors telling you anything is 'normal'.

You need your thyroid checked also. Doctors normally only do the most basic of tests so they can miss early thyroid problems. You'll need to get a proper thyroid panel done and then check your results with the Stop the Thyroid Madness group on FB.

Being vegan you're likely deficient in several things, sorry. get your Vitamin D levels checked and make sure they're doing the right test for it. You also need your B12 checked but testing for that is a whole other can of worms which I'm not too familiar with. My vegan brother knows all about it if you want to pm me. Make sure you're at least taking the correct dose of the best B12 supplement in the best form - absolutely daily, no exceptions - and find out whether you can methylate or not, get a genetic test.

If it's not those then it could be estrogen deficiency because you're not on HRT. Could be other things too of course but that list are the most likely starting points for you given your age and diet.
