Anyone else feel like they're being electrocuted 'down there'?

Hi,

Weird one, I know...

Over the last few months I have been woken in the night by the feeling of someone ramming a taser repeatedly into my pelvic floor. It's probably happened 5/6 times and it is so painful it wakes me up. The best way to describe it is multiple strong muscle spasms (almost a permanent orgasm type of spasm) but without the pleasure bit. It happens in waves and can last for hours. It's so excruciating it literally takes my breath away and I have on occasion cried with the pain. The best way I've found to manage it is to take co-codamol which takes some of the pain out of it and sends me back to sleep but the milder 'aftershocks' can last all day.

By way of background I'm knocking on 52, have some peri symptoms (occasional flushes, itchy skin, periods every 3 weeks with flooding first couple of days, brain fog) but I can't find anything relating to this condition, menopause or otherwise.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so does it pass? It's pointless trying to see a GP and the nurse practitioner at our surgery is a man - and whilst he's a perfectly nice bloke, he doesn't have the anatomy to be able to relate to what I'd be describing 😳

Thanks!

Ive had similar. It’s very easily sorted with cream. I can’t remember the name of the one I have, but I put in a pessary twice a week and it completely cures it.

Hopefully someone will come along in a minute with the name then phone your GP, explain the issue and ask for the cream. They won’t need to do any examination etc, they should just give you the cream.

Thank you LizzieSiddal, I'm pleased I'm not alone! Does the 'condition' have a name or is just one of those nondescript things that we women have to just put up with?!

Hi @BlueJay12 i don’t want to be alarmist & not medically qualified but been reading (down a rabbit hole) a lot around gynae, peri & menopause recently as on my journey with it all too.

On one of the podcasts with Louise Newson & a gynaecologist they strongly advise not to ignore any pelvic pains of any kind that are different & unusual for you.

Obviously peri & meno is full of new & troubling symptoms but I’d want to tell my GP this. Even in the absence of any abnormal bleeding etc.

Others may come along with experience of similar.

But I know how difficult a) getting an appointment is & b) being believed by the person in front of you is too but book on to see a doctor & don’t apologise or minimise these symptoms (which I’ve done on the past) which makes it easy for them to gaslight you.

Goid luck 🍀

Oh my @Companyofwolves - thank you for that. On the back of that I think I will see if my GP can see me sometime this decade...

I don't suppose you know of a link to that particular podcast? I'll have a look for Louise Newson's website though, thanks for the heads-up, much appreciated.

Good luck with your own journey x

Not at all it’s such a minefield IMO. I’ll have a look & see which one it was - have watched so many!

@BlueJay12

This one just was v eye opening about gynae health & not ignoring things- but obvs not saying that’s what you have.

And just found something called Lightning Crotch !! ⚡️which sounds similar to what you experienced maybe?
