Hrt prescription charges

Hello, can I confirm something. If you pay for prescriptions and are on everol sequi, what are your prescription charges?

I was prescribed 16 patches - they come in 2 boxes. Each box contains 4 everol 50 and 4 everol conti.

For this I paid 2 prescription charges, £18 +, even though on the label with my address on it says 1 item. Is this correct?

Should be er prescription item but more than one box can count as an item. I get charged one fee for two boxes of my meds. Officially they can charge two amounts if it's for 2 months for convenience

AdventFridgeOfShame · 07/02/2023 12:29

It is because there are two different drugs in each box.

Check if it will be cheaper to get a annual prepay thingy

CornishGem1975 · 07/02/2023 12:39

Yes, two different items - it's per item that you pay. I don't have HRT but am on lifelong meds for other issues and the pre-pay certificate is well worth it. I pay £10 per a month.

JockSmashnova · 07/02/2023 12:43

Prepay is the way to go. I CANNOT believe I put it off for as long as I did! (Lazy)

Ifnottodaywhen · 07/02/2023 12:47

I'll look into pre-pay thank you. I thought it probably was right.

@Ifnottodaywhen I am on novofem and because it has two different items I have to pay for two prescription BUT as I get 3 months at a time just have to pay every quarter not every month

bestbefore · 07/02/2023 12:49

Yes it's correct. A tax on women in my opinion

CornishGem1975 · 07/02/2023 12:54

They are changing it though aren't they? It was in the news last week.

gingercat02 · 07/02/2023 12:55

Definitely pre-pay.
HRT should be free IMO but lots of life long medication aren't.
There are bizarre rules like levothyroxine is free if you have an underactive thyroid gland but not if you have an overactive one and need it to balance your carbimizole!

I'm on novofem too - 2 types of tablets in the pack, but my GP will only give me one month at a time, so if I didn't have the pre-pay thing, I'd be forking out about£18 a month!

Smallinthesmoke · 07/02/2023 13:06

Read this before you buy pre-pay for a year!!

gettingolderbutcooler · 07/02/2023 13:12

@AdventFridgeOfShame is right- it's because of there being 2 drugs - bastarding unfair 😡

Smallinthesmoke · 07/02/2023 13:06

Yes that was I was alluding to further up thread - but if you do want cheaper prescriptions in the meantime you can pre-pay for £30 for just three months rather than a whole year.
