Side effects

I've just started Kliofem. Have been on hrt for years, last one was Tibolone for the past 3 years which unfortunately stopped working for me.

In some ways the Kliofem has been amazing. Mood much more stable, no more irrational anger or crying. Sleeping better, no more aching joints.

On the other hand, the bloating and water retention is awful as is the newly started back pain and bleeding again after years without.

I appreciate it's only been 3 weeks but am looking for some reassurance that these side effects will pass. It's been so long since I started a new prescription that I can't remember. I'm going on a long waited special occasion holiday in a few weeks and so worried I'm going to feel like an aching/bleeding puffa fish.

If anyone here had these types of side effects how long before it settles back to normal for you?

Do you want to give a little more info about the history of your treatment and how far you are in peri, or post menopause?

It's hard to advise without knowing that. If the Kliofem you are using is for women who are post meno, you shouldn't bleed BUT as it's a different type to Tibolone, many women do bleed for up to 6 months on a new type of continuous HRT.

There are a couple of points though...

Tibolone is a different type of HRT to most. It's synthetic (compared to many newer, body-identical types) and has a combo of estrogen type drugs, but also testosterone type. It's not usually the first choice of hrt unless there are special reasons.

Likewise, Kliofem is tablet form with a synthetic progesterone (it's MPA.)
There has been a gradual move away from tablet form HRT in the last few years, and replaced with patches or estrogen gel / spray.

Is your dr not very 'up' on HRT? As I said, Tibolone is an unusual choice unless for specific reasons, and Kliofem is one of the older types of HRT as well.

@JinglingSpringbells thanks for your reply. I started hrt 10 years ago when peri. I have been post menopausal around 3 years now. I've been on a few types, the Tibolone I specifically asked for in the hope it would help libido.

Symptoms that mainly returned this last year were mainly mood, hot flushes, joint pain and sleep.

Tbh due to other issues to do with my Gp by the time I was offered the kliofem I was desperate and didn't really question it. I do feel much better on it. Especially mood and sleep the only down side is that physical I feel so bloated and puffy.
