Heavy Bleeding. Post Menopause on HRT.

I don't know if I should be concerned...

I started HRT in August after not having any periods for 2 years. I'm in my late 40's.

Things were going well with just a smear of blood from time to time.

However, during December and Jan, I'm now on my 3rd bout of bleeding. The last time was on Christmas Day for about 5 days.

Then, a week ago, I noticed that my breasts were very sore. I also get occasional bouts of dizziness and I'd experienced a bit of dizziness for a couple of days too.

Yesterday, the bleeding started again. Lots last night and then, this morning, I put the largest tampon in and I was leaking after just one hour. I never had such heavy periods when I was peri-menopausal!

I thought that I was supposed to bleed once a month but this bleeding is excessive!

I'm on two pumps of gel and one tablet of progesterone.

Is this normal does anyone know? Thanks!

Any bleeding post menopause needs a call to Drs.

The info and advice on continuous combined hrt says that bleeding in the first 6 months is to be expected.

If you are using 100mgs progesterone every day this is a bleed-free continuous type.

Using the dose you are on, you are not supposed to bleed at all, once it's all settled down.

Why did you think you would get a monthly bleed on a bleed-free type? Has your dr not explained?

From what you have said, it is more likely that you are onot post menopause and should be using a sequential type of hrt.

Ovarian function that stops before 50 can sometimes resume. This is a known 'thing' especially with women who had POI (premature ovarian insufficiency.)

The dizziness could be anaemia or it is a side effect too of progesterone (are you taking it last thing at night, as instructed?)
