I came off the pill at the end of August and I havent had a period since ?
I turned 48 in October.
I had two months, October and November where I would experince strange hot flush like symptoms for a mnute at a time but they have stopped now.
Other than an increase in anxiety ( which is actually gettin quite bad ) I dont appear to have any symptoms at all ?
I thought I would have to use otehr protection after coming off the pill but my periods have just upped and gone.
How do I know if this is it ??

It's officially menopause when you've gone a year with no periods (assuming no hormone treatments). At 48 you would expect to be peri at least, and that can mess with your usual rhythm, add to that recent pill withdrawal, it could be a blip.
But the pill gives you a bleed (it triggers shed of womb lining that the pill builds) not a true period (menstruation with egg release) so depending how long you've been on the pill you might not have had a natural period for a while.

No, not if over 45. Age and symptoms are used to diagnose

Hi - new to the forum, but CleopatrasBeautifulNose is correct. Peri menopause starts in your forties ( normally) . I suffered with endometriosis, had a hysterecomy and thrown into the menopause at an early age. But so many women don't know how the decline in hormones effects them. The menopause gets labelled as hot flushes, but there is so much more to it. I would look into going on HRT patches, gel or tablet. It can be a long road to find out what suits you, but it's worth it. HRT helps protect your internal health ie. heart, bones, brain etc but that side of things always gets over looked. In this time, women don't have to suffer. The HRT that is available now is bio identical, so is as close to what your body would naturally produce. Anxiety is a sign of hormonal inbalance for women in there 40's / 50's. and thats because your estrogen levels are declining . I would look into HRT and see how you get on with it.
