Anyone subscribe to Dr Jen Gunter? Or other science resources

One of the things I find most difficult about menopause is the NOT KNOWING. There is so little research it seems, the GP can't answer my questions, and I am starting to doubt the private doc will be able to either. I am a solutions focussed person and i'd like to understand what the hell is going on.

I would really like to see the rest of the latest newsletter from Dr Gunter as she does start to get into the 4 types of hormonal pattern in the menopause transition. Anyone got a sub and willing to share the text? (not passwords or anyting like that!) Or got any good scientific resources to share?

I've not heard of her but if you could maybe explain the kind of stuff you want to know, (and how not knowing is impacting on you) maybe can point you in the right direction of papers (scientific) and meno consultants who have done Youtube interviews etc.

Not a subscriber, sorry, but I recently listened to a podcast Jen Gunter did with Sam Baker (The Shift) and she was fabulous. Highly recommended listening. (Sam Baker is fab too)

I've read her book - the Menopause Manifesto. It's very good but a lot is irrelevant to us in the UK as she is writing for a North American audience.

I suppose in the UK her equivalent is Louise Newsom, a GP who runs her own menopause clinic and seems to be up on all the latest research.

I was going to say the same as the PP- that books /drs in the US are very different re. HRT compared to the UK.

The types of HRT that are used are different. The US does (sometimes) still hang onto the 'estrogen dominance myth' and various other similar ideas that are now disproved.

TBH if you are struggling, you'd be better off using your money to see a private menopause specialist who will give you the time and expertise to discuss everything. Look for one who is a specialist gynae, with training and experience in menopause.

There are some very good Youtube videos online (free) where Diane Danzebrink interviews Prof Nick Panay on various aspects of menopause (He runs a London NHS meno clinic for women with serious meno issues as well as being involved in research.)

There is actually a lot of research on it but it depends what you mean by that and what you need.
