Just that really. Is there an optimal level? Thanks

what's the context?

Have you tried searching online ? I doubt anyone will have stats without looking.

mumdone · 04/12/2022 14:36

I have tried looking but it’s mostly for people who are having IVF rather than peri

I'm sure the info is out there.

You need to look at specific levels for fertile women, women post meno, women on HRT etc.

why do you need to know? have you had tests and are unsure what your rsults mean?

mumdone · 04/12/2022 14:55

Yes, just wondered if anyone knew.

There are tables out there- I've looked in the past. You might get better success looking for 'estrogen' rather than estradiol.

But peri isn't diagnosed by blood tests any more unless you are under 45 as the levels of estrogen vary day to day.

There are guidelines for those on oestrogen but they're very wide it's mostly seen as useless if not on it as levels can fluctuate.

I had a test when on hrt and symptoms had come back, I think done with thyroid to check which it might be; I'm on thyroxine fine and thyroid was fine but oestrogen was marked borderline too low at 130 ish. (I imagine for bone density.)

My Gp said around 400-600 is a good level to aim for but it's really individual. That level is quoted in an nhs booklet for alleviating mood issues . I've seen in forums that some women don't get symptom relief till oestrogen till much higher and others feel horrific if it's over 300.

So it's very individual and needs careful titrating and monitoring and evaluation with symptoms.

However, I'm now finding that progesterone is possibly a helpful hormone for me and a missing part of the jigsaw. Testosterone possibly, but I'm going to see how I go for a while on current regime. So it's important to look at the bigger picture.
