Is anyone using it? Has it helped? Are you using it alongside other HRT?
What type are you using?
Did you just go and buy it yourself?

@SheWoreARaspberryBeret123 There's a lot of confusion over 'dryness'.

You can have vaginal atrophy- now called GUS- genito urinary syndrome- and not feel you are 'dry' but the soreness during sex shows your tissues have thinned and are not plump any more.

Also, - seems contradictory- some women get a really thin watery discharge with VA which makes them think they are not dry.

It can also be tinged with blood as the skin is so thin it bleeds (not just with sex- any time.)

You cab buy Gina over the counter but you will have to speak to the pharmacist and show you are over 50 and post menopause.

This is a bit daft TBH as women under 50 can get it from their GP on prescription.

Gina and Vagifem are the same.

All the best with it!

Thanks @JinglingXmasbells
Am under 50 so going to need to get it from the doc. Yes that's what I was thinking about being less "plump" - wish the rest of me was!! 😹

Sorry, I was saying you can use the Ovestin outside as well as inside.

Thanks for clarifying. This has been an illuminating conversation. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences 🙏

Why do you not apply it every day?

I can see you’ve had replies since but to answer your questions - anyone can get it prescribed. I get free prescriptions due to medical exemptions so it’s always cheaper for me to have thing’s prescribed- this may not be the case for everyone

With Ovestin the advice is to use it 2/3 times a week internally. When you first start it they say to use it every day for a week or so and then drop to 2/3 a week. You can use a small amount of the cream externally whenever you wish though. (It comes with a plastic applicator you fill with the cream to use internally). On the days I don’t use it that’s when I use Replens instead. Most women wouldn’t need to do that - it’s just my issues are extreme due to sjorgens syndrome.

@SheWoreARaspberryBeret123 All vaginal estrogen comes with the instructions to use it for 14 days, non stop.

That will start to see things getting better.

After that, the instructions say 2 x a week.

However, some women find this is not enough and do it a bit more- like 3x or every other day.

You can use a small amount (pea size) externally any day you want as well.
