I posted this on women’s health but posting here too in case someone has had a similar experience

I’m 37 and 17months post partum. My periods came back around 5 months pp and were relatively regular with cycle of 30 days period lasting 7 days until the past two cycles where it was 39 days and now 45 days and counting.

i did a pregnancy test at 39 days which was negative. I started bleeding a few days ago but it didn’t feel like a normal period bleed and was probably a post sex bleed as I have an ectropian (although there were a few clots?!) anyway it only lasted a day so I didn’t class it as a period.

I am still breastfeeding so don’t know if it’s just hormones but my periods were fairly regular until recently. I have been feeling quite up and down emotionally but not sure I could class it as mood swings? Maybe they are

has anyone experienced something similar?

If you want to look into it, You can have hrt when Breastfeeding. I did. But I was 44 and had been going back and forth for ages with various symptoms.

It might be worth checking other things first though eg thyroid etc.

They may try to make you stop bf (my gps didn't though) but in my honest experience it didn't help at all and things got worse. I was still having periods and breastfeeding when j started hrt but had a lot of peri symptoms.

Your age may make things tricky though.

How is your weight? Being underweight can cause cycle issues.

Thank you for your reply. I’m about 8-9 kg overweight which I’m trying to shift but it’s going slowly. I’m 76kg but want to get down to 67kg.

I was told I have sub clinical hypothyroidism last year but then had another blood test since where my T4 levels were normal so perhaps the best thing is to go back to my GP to ask for another test and also explain my concerns

Ah yes I'd double check that and can mess with periods. Good luck
