Evorel patches now super irritating to skin

I've been on patches since the summer. The first lot were totally fine I didn't notice them at all and they stayed on perfectly.

I've just had my second lot through and they feel totally different. They are more 'crunchy' and lift off easier and I can't find a location where they don't constantly annoy me.

Anyone else having this?? I feel like they've changed the formula or material of the patches.....

I hate Evorel. They are like crisp bags.

I find that Estradot stick just as well and are a lot smaller, but they are like hen's teeth at the moment.

Yes. Actually crackles like a crisp packet!

Baystard · 21/11/2022 20:03

They're big and crunchy compared to oestradot but I prefer them, easier get the backing off.

My doctor put me on estrodot and the pharmacy is really struggling to get hold of them ☹️ now have to have three patches at once to get right strength and only have one months supply ☹️

A good tip I got on here - as long as you're not actually allergic to any patch glue - is to ask for a script for estradiol transdermal patches rather than a brand name like Evorel or Estradot. Then the pharmacist can then dispense what they have.

This is why I am back to crinkly crisp packet Evorel because Estradot just can't be found. I posted a thread a while ago likening it to that old Yellow Pages ad with the guy ringing round looking for a copy of an obscure book.

Hahahaahaha.

I genuinely feel like they have got worse. My first batch were totally fine. Never noticed them and now, as you say, it's like having crisp packets in my pants!

I pay privately at the moment as my GP was useless so I'll see what other options there are.

Same here - I am finding when I remove the patch it is quite red underneath. Didn't use to get that.

I have just picked up my latest supply and it's not Evorel this time, it is Estraderm. Will see if there is a difference. .

SteveHarringtonsChestHair · 21/11/2022 23:07

Sounds counterintuitive but if you cover the patch with a wound dressing/tattoo dressing I find it gets a lot less red and irritated. Plus you don’t get the gluey residue leftover.

Namaste6 · 21/11/2022 23:38

They're absolutely awful. I have sore red skin where the patches have been. Crinkly, irritating and too big. Bloody nonsense. Missing my Estradot and hoping stocks and availability improve over the coming months.

HeraldicBlazoning · 21/11/2022 23:41

this is what I don’t understand. The technology is obviously there which allows estradot to make small plaster sized patches. Evorel are SO much bigger. There’s no need for it, really. And you can bet that if was men being asked to put crisp bags in their underwear it would be quickly sorted.

gp did offer tablets as an alternative but I like the idea of patches. Just not the material they are made from.

Teaseall · 21/11/2022 23:45

Oh god! I'm on Evorel and I'm really hoping my next prescription isn't like this!
FWIW currently I find if I point the hairdryer at the very top of my thigh just below where my knicker elastic sits (note I don't wear thongs or high legs Grin) and warm it up and warm up the patch in my hand with the hairdryer too, it fixes really well. No crunch here .... and really hoping it stays that way.

HeraldicBlazoning · 21/11/2022 23:48

Estraderm are huge too - the 50 mcg ones are 22 cm sq.

Taxistaxing · 21/11/2022 23:52

I had trouble with them sticking when I had them on my legs especially after exercise, but I've discovered if I put them at the top of my butt near the small of my back, which doesn't get 'creased' by sitting and my granny pants cover it 🤣 then I don't have any problems.

I think you might mean 22mm ... hopefully Wink

I totally agree mens products wouldn't feel as bad as this!

Thanks for all the tips. I'll try all and see what works best!

Still convinced, while there was a shortage, they've had to chance the design/ formula slightly and now they are worse.
