Anyone else become shit at work?

Making rookie mistakes?

I've messed up a couple of times now and the other day the woman above me said slow down, take time to get it right, so we don't look u professional etc, and then I fucked up again yesterday, I sent someone the wrong invoice. And everyone is copied in on most invoices so it will have been noticed.

I'm worried this is going to be escalated now because that kind of thing has happened a couple of times now. Or I'm going to get a talking to about ut again today.

Did you explain what was going on with you? Tbh I'm going full time and dropping my second job in 2 weeks, so my concentration etc will improve then anyway and in January I'll be dropping the financial stuff but I'm still worried that my work isn't up to standard amd this just isn't me. My accuracy is normally bang on.

I'm 41 and about to be post menopausal (feb) but only just having it picked up now. I'm sitting in the drs now waiting for a mammogram that my Dr wants before she prescribes hrt.

Did anyone else stop with the silly mistakes once on hrt?

Yes l used to get a terrible brain fog - still do sometimes. So l just slowed right down and double and triple checked my work. Thankfully l have a very understanding manager

Namechangeforthis88 · 08/11/2022 10:11

Friend of mine got terrible brain fog and just got lost in meetings and couldn't find the words she needed, much better on HRT apparently. She told me not to hang back if it was happening to me.

CourtneeLuv · 08/11/2022 10:26

Ok maybe I'll tell them then. It's all women in the team anyway.

😯omg you're lucky you didnt get robbed. Check your loft for a squatter though 😂

Well we had the teams calls this afternoon and nothing was said. I just have to make sure I don't make another mistake again.

Why wait? Is it not better to be proactive with your manager and say that you’re struggling with menopause symptoms, you’re conscious you’ve made some silly mistakes and that you’ve taken action with your GP and dropping your second job.

Watto1 · 08/11/2022 18:30

I could have written this exact post! Yes, I’m making silly mistakes which I kick myself over. It only dawned on me fairly recently that it could be menopause related. Boss had to give me a totally deserved gentle ticking off over something I had done . I burst into tears and told him all my menopause woes. To be fair he was brilliant, despite going bright red as I was pouring my heart out! Unfortunately I’m still making the odd error but I’m triple checking everything and I feel better for having spoken up.

My brain fog all stopped when I started taking magnesium at night

OhFFS! · 08/11/2022 18:38

Yep, I struggle too. I forget stuff which is really annoying. Not on HRT though

DinkyDaisy · 08/11/2022 18:43

My brain fog awful before hrt and maybe slipping back again now. [on low dose hrt at present].
Don't wait. I have been on hrt [femoston1/10] for a year now and I am 56. I should have started years ago. My anxiety and brain fog were through the roof before taking and my sleep was awful, All improved. However, took a while to bed in so expect a few wobbles in the first weeks. Good luck.

validnumber · 08/11/2022 19:07

I'm not sure how recently this has developed but I seem to take ages to get going now, esp on a Monday morning.
Interestingly I do work with a lot of older guys who also seem to develop some sort of brain fog too!

I can't retain any information anymore, unless I write it down.

Lots of workplaces are becoming much better at understanding menopause and how it affects women. So it would be worth letting at least your manager know, they may be able to support or at least understand.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 08/11/2022 20:30

I'm not finding that I'm becoming shit at work - I'm finding that other people are becoming more shit, i.e. that menopause is making me less tolerant of their mistakes 🤣

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 08/11/2022 20:31

^^That should say "my menopause is making me" - I'm not casting aspersions on anybody else going through the menopause, just my own shorter temper!

CourtneeLuv · 08/11/2022 21:18

😂

OP posts:
emmathedilemma · 10/11/2022 11:02

yep, this is what's prompted me to go to my GP as I literally can not do my job some days for brain fog and lack of concentration (see also browsing mumsnet in the middle of the working day). My typing is awful - everything I write I have to go back and read slowly word by word to ensure it makes sense. I forget what I'm saying halfway through sentences or why I was about to open a document or folder. I'm really struggling to focus in meetings although everything being on bloody Teams doesn't help. I am seriously at the point of fearing I'm going to sacked!
I've had an initial appointment with the GP and despite her saying they just diagnose peri menopause based on symptoms at my age she still sent me for blood tests which I'm waiting on the results of. At least she didn't dismiss me as depressed!

CourtneeLuv · 10/11/2022 11:33

I've just been prescribed activelle.
