Ovestin - external use

Wondered how people had found Ovestin effectiveness? After quite some time in discussion...(family health history) my doctor has suggested Ovestin (equivalent, I'm not in UK) for vaginal dryness - as well as the quite severe vulva itching /dryness I've had since estrogen dropped.
I'm applying the cream a little externally as well as internally - but with mixed advice as to whether that's a good idea?

It's fine to use it both ways.

Where have you seen/been given the advice that it's not?

It's extremely weak and it's not absorbed anywhere else, so your 'family history' if it was regarding safety shouldn't be an issue (if that's what you meant!)

It will work but give it time.

Yes I have a doctor unhappy about any HRT at all due to a grandmother with breast cancer...Desperately need something though, going with the gel for now - Blissel

Can't you find another dr?

Most women who have had BC are allowed to use it.

Your dr is ignorant.

Sorry? Confused.

You said you had Ovestin but now you say you're using Blissel which is much weaker.

Is it you who doesn't want to use ovestin or your dr?

I'm not in the UK - so I'm not very aware of Ovestin but was actually told by a pharmacist here that Blissel and Ovestin were the same strength, my mistake. I would love to use something stronger - it's my doctor! I'm going to see another one next week...
