Bumping for you

Livial is usually only prescribed for women who have no ovaries as it is a synthetic form of HRT with a testosterone 'element'.

Like all HRT, everyone reacts differently to it.

You've just got to give it a whirl!

I'm surprised that oestrogel and femoston caused hair loss.
Femoston contains a progesterone that is similar to our own hormones, and presumably with gel, you used Utrogestan? (no ovaries, but do you have your womb?)

It's not the estrogen that causes hair loss, it's the progestogens.

I'm on Tibolone, been on it 5 years and it's fantastic (for me).

No hot flushes, more energy, better mood, more libido, less vaginally dryness.

It's for women who have had no period for 1yr+, don't gave to have had ovaries out (I haven't)

Downside is pesky chin hairs taking off. But it's worth it!

Good luck OP, I hope it suits you

From the PP: It's not the estrogen that causes hair loss, it's the progestogens.

Estrogen can directly interfere with thyroid hormones. Low thyroid can lead to hair loss, weight gain, low energy and a bunch of other things. A big boost of estrogen when menopausal often leads to all if the above so its certainly a possibility.

@WishIWasACavewoman Tibolone is not used exclusively for women with no ovaries. It's there as an option because the formula (which is not body-identical like most other HRT) is more androgenic than other HRT. (ie acts like testosterone.)

It's used for women with no ovaries (sometimes) as the ovaries can produce small amounts of testosterone.

The estrogen used now in other HRT is body-identical, so it's unlikely to affect the thyroid any more than our own estrogen.

@Dada40 Did anyone suggest increasing your estrogen as post-ovary removal? your own estrogen levels would be very low indeed. Some women go up as much as 4 to 6 pumps of gel.

There are some concerns about the side effects compared to transdermal HRT, because there is no risk of blood clots with transdermal types of HRT. Also, as it's slightly androgenic, it may worsen hair loss.

Has a specialist suggested it?
