On HRT but still feeling anxious

Tubbytenbums · 27/10/2022 18:30

Hi all,
Been on HRT for 12 months, improved my sleep no end! Previously I'd been unable to sleep for 2 years.
Unfortunately I'm still feeling anxious, is this normal? Never had anxiety before. It's affecting my job.
Anyone have any helpful tips?

Me too!

I think I need to increase the oestrogen. Have asked to be refereed to a specialist to discuss testosterone too. My friend said that got rid of the anxiety for her.
Exercise really helps too.

What form are you on op?

Me too but only on it a few months. am on patches50. I may ask to go to 75. The dr never mentioned testosterine, is that taken as well?
I did have a few weeks at the start where my anxiety went and it was wonderful but its back same as ever now. Its awful isnt it.

If you go to 75 patches, does that mean you have to take separate progesterone? I'm loving not having to shove those Utrogestan up me for 1/2 the month!

I'm on the 50 patches and didn't even know 75s were an option.
I'm just about to finish my last box of sequi (a year's worth) and go onto conti. No idea how that will differ other than no bleed

I don't think you can get continuous with 75 patches but not 100% sure. You may need utrogestan or mirena.

I found the jump from 50-75 and then to 100 tough so you can either ask for 25 patches to cut in half or cut a bit off a 75 for a couple of months if you're finding it tough.

High estrogen levels are often required, between 400-600pmol/l and referral to secondary care indicated if off licences dose of estrogen needed

You could ask for blood tests but ideally symptoms should be all you need.

What do you meaby tough, i thought a higher dose of oestrogen would make you feel better?

A bit too buzzy and anxious for me. Also some achey legs and feet. Water retention. It settled after 6-8 weeks but I went up by smaller increments when going form 75 to 100. But that's me. Some find they wake really early or insomnia returns.

A bit like starting antidepressants. But as with antidepressants then it kicks in.,it's taken 6 weeks for me to finally notice a difference with anxiety on 100 but I'd been on 87.5 for the 6 weeks before that.

But everyone is very different
