Anyone had gingivitis from HRT?

Write longer post but lost it so this is a summary!

Sudden bleeding gums.

Started since HRT three months ago.

Saw hygienist 3 months ago who said good oral health.

Dentist noticed three areas of gingivitis/bleeding 2 weeks ago at check up. Have increased cleaning and been corsodyl gelling those areas as directed.

Suddenly this morning all gums along front of mouth are bleeding. I brushed exactly the same there yesterday no bleeding.

Could this be HRT related? I was thinking I might need more HRT as still have no sex drive (despite this coming back in month 1 of HRT) and stress incontinence symptoms also got better and then have slightly worsened. Could it be lack of oestrogen?

Has anyone else had this while taking HRT?

If HRT is the cause will it pass like other side effects are expected to?

Far more likely to be loss of estrogen.

HRT helps teeth as it helps our bodies retain bone health, which means teeth have a firm root in the jaw. Jaw bones can become weak with loss of estrogen just like all other bones.

Estrogen is important for skin and collagen, so no, it won't make your gums bleed.

Yes when my oestrogen seemed to crash earlier this year. Despite hrt lots of symptoms retuned plus bad gums. Blood tests showed low levels of oestrogen so I've been hiking up the patches.

It was also 3 months after covid which really knocked me for six and took about 4-5 months to recover from. Hard to tell what was covid and what was meno, except that libido and periods vanished and hot flushes returned with vengeance.

Just to feedback in case this is affecting anyone else. I think it was lack of consistency in applying my HRT that was causing the problem. I scaled back to two pumps a day split lunchtime and evening. I am then increasing one of those to 1.5 pumps to see how I do at the moment. Feeling better in myself and no bleeding gums so far!

If you are splitting the dose why not do morning and evening? If you are using it at lunchtime, then evening, there is a more than a 12 hour gap between evening and lunchtime the next day. Ideally, you should try to do 2 pumps (or whatever the dose) once in 24 hours, or 2 doses with roughly 12 hours between them. could you try 9am then 9-10pm?
