Hi all.

I've just had an Instagram ad for an all-in menopause supplement. It does look like the bomb - turmeric, ashwaghanda, et etc but £149 per month!!!!!

Does anyone know of anything comparable that's not a gimmick backed by investors who are spending millions in advertising and not the product itself???

Hi, I love femenessence Macalife for peri menopause and they also do Macapause for menopause ( which I haven’t tried yet). I have a subscription as Ive found it so effective over last two years, I think it’s £25-30 a month for that which is so worth it for me! I also take ashwagandha at bedtime and a multivitamin from the supermarket and that covers it ( at the moment) for me. A lot of research has gone into the formula and I think you can get advice on tailored dosing too. Obvs depends on your symptoms, my main ones were brain fog, fatigue and anxiety so can’t say how it works on hot flushes for example. X

If such a product existed it would be a) subject to scientific trials to prove efficacy b) totally free from side effects c) prescribed by doctors.

Playing devi'ls advocate here a bit but why would scientists spend years developing prescribed drugs, run them through scientific trials, if a few herbs did the trick?

There is an another thread here about supplements. I left a long quote from the British Menopause Society about the efficacy and safety of a lot of these supplements. Some women may get some help from some of them, but it's often a placebo effect, and no evidence in scientific research shows they work that well.

If you want to try a supplement, it's best to focus on what you want to achieve- ie is it hot flushes, mood etc - and choose 1 herb that may help with that.

Usually this 'research' is by the manufacturers themselves, not independent, double-blind trials
