Mammograms and Menopause

Just back from a mammogram -routine breast check - to be told by radiographer there is breast thickening, so I will do it again and she did and this time she said all looks ok. Doctor will review and you will have your results in 3 weeks. Just wondering if there was something still showing up there would she have said it? Wasn't concerned when i was there but now I am a little. Although its prob the menopause anxiety raising its ugly head😀. I am not on HRT so wondering has anyone else had this experience? Thank you!

I don't think the radiographer can say anything apart from repeating the image if it's not clear. I have been referred to the breast clinic after my last 2 mammograms and when they have done further imaging and ultrasound it has been ok. Hopefully she got a clear image for you and it will be ok.

I'm due a mammogram in November and absolutely dreading it because the waiting and additional tests send my mind into over drive. 🙁

In my experience (15 years of annual mammograms - I started early due to family history making me high risk), the radiographer usually gives you a heads-up if there's anything potentially concerning. So try not to worry. It's unlikely you'd be told you'll have results in 3 weeks if they thought there was something that needed investigating further.

Thank you most sincerely. Its always I think a slight worry when you have these things done, before and afterwards. Never helped by getting older and experiencing the menopause anxiety on the day of the scan😀Common sense has taken over again today thankfully. Fingers crossed all will be ok. Take care and thank you again!
