Urinary incontinence

Is this a thing at this stage in life? I'm 46 and suspect I have been peri-menopausal for at least 4 years. My periods are irregular and currently AWOL. For the last couple of years I've had slight incontinence just after having a wee. It was always mid-cycle but it's getting to be all the time now and not just after peeing. Is this a thing? Thank you.

Def a thing! You GP will advise kegel exercises but worth checking you don't have a prolapse pushing down and making things worse so gp for a check up x

I had this issue and had a couple of years of physio for it then ultimately had a Burch procedure which lifts the bladder and sorts the problem out. The physio helped but there were times such as when I had a heavy cold when I was too scared to go out. One sneeze and the floodgates opened. I'm about 5 years on from the surgery and all good.

Can be low estrogen so I would see your GP

My I recommend a perifit
Worth it's weight in gold

AlternativelyWired · 05/10/2022 13:40

@HeadAboveTheParapet what's that?

Vaginal oestrogen could help. Vaginal atrophy means that the structures around the urethra shrink and change its functionality.
I certainly found that Vaginal oestrogen helped my "reaching the toilet door" urgency . I don't take systemic HRT

Perifit is a pelvic floor trainer.
Little machine(looks like a small vibrator), works with an app.
It registers your kegals and gives you feedback.

You play games on the app using your kegals.
