Hot flushes in head?

I’m considering trying to get hrt (mainly if I can overcome my foggy distracted brain enough to research what I actually need to ask the doctor for!) but am not sure if I’m having hot flushes, as I have frequent times where my head feels like it’s being roasted in an oven (to the point I’ve done multiple covid tests as I feel like I have a fever!) which gives me a semi permanent headache and exhaustion but I don’t seem to get hot anywhere else. Could this be a peri menopausal symptom?

Other possibly relevant things - I’m 48 now and my periods are usually close together now since I had my daughter 8 years ago (they tend to start every 3 weeks, though occasionally are closer - like 1 week between them - or once I had a 5 week gap). I’m miserable - to the point where I’m rarely happy and often don’t see the point in doing anything; I’m always tired; my feet hurt so badly with plantar fasciitis (which I’ve just read on here could be a symptom) and I have dry, painful eyes (likewise), I ache in general and just want to cry as everything seems ‘too much’. I find it so hard to get my head round simple paperwork that I used to be on top of and feel ‘the fear’ so badly when I try to look at it.

Are these all menopause-ish things or is it just getting older and I need to pull myself together?

If it is menopause, if anyone could tell me what to ask for I’d be very grateful.

My flushes started up on my head and then down on my feet (usually cold as ice).

The utterly fed-up feeling was menopause too, and the sense that there was nothing to look forward to in life.

HRT has helped. It's not a 100% cure but I can tell you on the rare occasions I forget to take it, I remember why I do! The Balance app is a good place to look for information. I'm on Oestrogel for the oestrogen (the feel-good hormone for women) and my progesterone (needed to protect the uterus) comes from a Mirena coil. Before that, I had utrogestan, supposed to be the gold standard body-identical progesterone but didn't work on my somewhat eccentric uterine lining.

Thanks so much @Abra1t I’ve downloaded the balance app, so hopefully that’ll help. 💐

@Abra1t Would you recommend HRT if hot flushes are the ONLY menopausal symptom, or just to try and ride it out? I'm not keen on the idea of taking it but the 'hot head' is unbearable at times

The doctor told me that having flushes wasn’t that good for me and they were also disturbing my sleep. I take my sleep very seriously as I don’t work well and feel down without a good night’s slumber. I have more energy for exercise when I sleep well too.
I think it’s a very personal decision but too many of us probably put up with things we don’t need to put up with.

I would go to the docs and ask for a thyroid test and a menapause test.

That's the thing that keeps coming back to me - am I putting up with something I don't need to put up with just because I'm a bit scared of HRT.
